Youth Job Center Seeks Odd Jobs For Teens

(Evanston, Ill.) Need help with work around your home this spring? The Youth Job Center of Evanston is offering its Odd Job Program again to Evanston-area residents in need of a large range of assistance, including gardening, weeding, cleaning, moving and more. The program helps to provide job experience for youth while offering a convenient service to the community.

The Odd Job Program originated from a notable need to provide jobs for younger teens, ages 14-15, who often have a more difficult time finding regular employment despite a willingness to work. The program has since extended to include all YJC clients who are eager and willing to complete jobs including moving furniture, running errands, cleaning basements and attics, completing administrative work and helping with yard work. Community members looking for temporary assistance with such jobs can call the Youth Job Center with their request and receive a list of qualified, motivated candidates looking for job experience.

Requirements include a safe environment for the YJC client and pay of at least minimum wage. Community members should call the YJC at least three days in advance to ensure placement of a candidate.

For more information or to request help with a job, please call the Youth Job Center at 847-864-5627.

The Youth Job Center of Evanston prepares youth ages 14-25 for success in the workplace through job-readiness, placement and employment support in partnership with employers.
