(Evanston, Ill.) The Youth Job Center of Evanston hosted “The 2010 Summer Resource Fair” last Thursday, August 12, at the Evanston Public Library. It was the first time the YJC hosted such an all-inclusive event which featured 16 informational resources including, IDES Unemployment Office, IL Veteran’s Services, LIFT Up Evanston, Asian Human Services, Chicago House, Jane Addams Resource Corporation, Easter Seals, and many more. Over 50 people attended.
“We were really happy with the turnout!” says Employer Outreach Coordinator Jordan Burghardt. “It was a great event for the community and a wonderful way for social service organizations to network with each other as well. The event really fulfilled a need as it brought a variety of resources together in one place.”
The fair provided access to a useful connections and systems of support including reliable childcare options, access to affordable housing, information on post-secondary training and education programs, securing financial aid and more.
