Youth Job Center Receives Grant from Designs For Dignity

(Evanston, Ill.) The Youth Job Center of Evanston received acceptance of a service grant last month from Designs for Dignity to update its interior. The grant will help provide a better working and learning environment for YJC clients and staff at their Church Street location. Changes will take place in conjunction with the YJC’s current building project plan to make its facility energy-efficient.

YJC Development Director Kim Hoopingarner contacted D4D in August regarding the grant and heard notice regarding the decision in October. Service details will be discussed in upcoming months.

Hoopingarner says this grant will make a special impact on the YJC.

“We’re thankful for the opportunity and assistance offered by Designs for Dignity to create a learning environment in which our youth can feel even more comfortable and focused,” she said.

Designs for Dignity was created with the belief that human being are entitled to, and nurtured by, living and working within creative environments. The organization offers grants to non-profits for a variety of pro bono design services, including consultations and in-kind donations.

Since 1983, the Youth Job Center of Evanston has assisted more than 20,000 young job seekers with job placement, employment counseling and ongoing support. The YJC continues to provide quality-based programming to the community and expects to serve more than 1,400 youths in the next year.

The Youth Job Center of Evanston prepares youth ages 14-25 for success in the workplace through job-readiness, placement and employment support in partnership with employers.
