Strategic Corporate Alliance(SCA) FAQ’s:

Are you going to give me a job?

YJC does not “distribute” jobs; the jobs you gain are from your own merit. The Strategic Corporate Alliance (SCA) program prepares clients for the workforce during the three-week training. After successfully completing the course, your SCA Advisor will refer you to YJC Employer partners that match your skills and interests. After that step, it is up to you to ace the interview and sell yourself! We train you on how to do this, but you must execute it on your own!

Does the SCA program guarantee a job?

As in life, nothing is guaranteed. But currently, the SCA program has a job placement rate of 75%. This is very motivating considering the population we serve is deemed the most difficult to place due to criminal backgrounds, no work history, transient housing, lack of education, and/or a lack of adequate childcare.

How often do SCA Classes meet?

SCA Classes will meet on the monthly basis. Training sessions last for three-weeks and are held at YJC offices unless otherwise noted. Classes meet Monday-Friday from 9am-2pm.

Who attends the SCA Class?

SCA serves a broad range of clients. Each class is totally different, but all face some barrier to employment. They reach the SCA class with the desire to strengthen their skills and awareness so they can succeed in the workforce.

Can anyone join?

SCA trainees must fall between the ages of 18-25 and read at a 9th grade level. A TABE assessment will be given to candidates during the intake process.

I am interested in the class, but I have been deemed as “special needs.” Can I take the class?

SCA does not discriminate against clients with disabilities. We do ask that the client can function independently without extensive supervision. If this is not the case, SCA services would not be adequate or appropriate for your needs.

I’m interested in taking the class, what are the next steps?

Please contact the SCA Coordinator to schedule an intake. The SCA Coordinator is Crystal Malone (847) 864-5627 ext. 16, or email Crystal using the contact form.

I work for a local service agency and I’d like to refer a client to the SCA Class, what are my next steps?

Please contact the SCA Coordinator to schedule an intake for the client you are referring. The SCA Coordinator is Crystal Malone (847) 864-5627 ext. 16, or email Crystal using the contact form.
